-Live with parents, going to apply for a mortgage but was told just recently I haven't been on the council tax at that address for a year and a abit. Will be going to put myself back on, but have a meeting for a mortgage in two days, obviously don't want to get declined but does council tax effect my application for a mortgage or even my credit?? As I will cancel the meeting otherwise.
Thanks in advanceNo it will not affect you. Mortgage companies are not interested in where you have been living, only your ability to pay back the loan.

Dear Packlead,
Please note that lenders absolutely do care where you have been living - please ignore that last bit of advice.
The 1st answer is correct though, if you receive a voting card with your name on it you are on the electoral register this is very positive for your credit score when looking to obtain a mortgage.
Your credit score is made up of multiple components with the electoral register being a major one. However, if your exisiting credit is registered there, then this may override the fact that you are not on the register.
Your credit score is dependent on the level of deposit you have, your previous conduct of your credit commitments, your income and outgoings, any dependents you may have, your existing relationship with the bank, time in job and actual job to name but a few.
It is a points based system so it is not a definite fail at all but is a factor. Speak to your bank about this or alternatively check for yourself on www.creditexpert.co.uk
All the best for your meeting.
