-I live in Pennsylvania, have two jobs and work 80 hours a week. I get paid $7.50 an hour, and get my paychecks every two weeks. I was told 15% but that seems like too much. ThanksPennsylvania takes out exactly 3.07%. The town where you live will most likely take out 1%, but several towns have higher rates almost up to 4% in Philadelphia. You also have to pay 4.2% in social security tax (which is 2% lower than last year) and 1.45% in medicare tax. Plus the town where you work may have a Local Services Tax which is a flat amount up to $1 per week ($2 if you get paid every other week). And you may also have to pay Federal income tax.
So it is quite possible it could be 15% total when you consider all possible taxes.
When you have 2 jobs with as an employee with an employer you should NEVER fill out you W-4 the same way because the chances that you will end having to send a check for failing to have enough FIT federal income tax withheld from your gross wages earnings for each pay period when they payroll department use the withholding table at the separate allow you the benefit of the tax free standard deduction and the allowance amount which can cause you end having to send a payment to the IRS and if the amount owed is MORE than 1000 you may be charged a penalty and some interest for failing to pay enough estimated advance tax payments through the payroll withholding department or you using the 1040ES estimated tax payment voucher each quarter of the year as they become due with the last third payment due September 15 2011 and number 4 payment with voucher # 4 due January 17 2012.

1040 Tax Calculator [Calculator][Definitions]
Enter your filing status, income, deductions and credits and we will estimate your total taxes for 2011. Based on your projected withholdings for the year, we can also estimate your tax refund or amount you may owe the IRS next April 2012. In 2011, Federal income tax rates were scheduled to increase to pre-2001 levels, but the "Tax Hike Prevention Act of 2010" left the existing tax brackets in place through 2012. Please note that this calculator uses the preliminary 2011 tax tables.
Hope that you find the above enclosed information useful for your situation and good luck. 07/01/2011
5.65% for social security and medicare this year only - is normally 7.65%
3.07% for PA state income tax
You'll also owe federal and local income tax. Local might be withheld, or you might have to pay it yourself - will be at least 1%,, is several % in some areas Federal withholding will depend on what you put on your W-4's, but if you don't have enough taken out, you'll have to make up the extra at the end of the year.
15% total MIGHT be enough, but you'll very likely owe more than that.
you know that 5.65% will be withheld from both pay checks for FICA, if PA has an employee tax that could be 1% or more
the income tax will depend on how you filed your W4 with your employer and you must remember that working two jobs will cause more income tax to be withheld since this makes your total gross higher and subject to higher rate of income tax
PA uses a flat rate of 3.07%.
You will also owe 4.2% for fica, 1.45% for medicare and federal.
