I am a student and have not filed for taxes this year. What do I do?

-I made no money this year - actually I took out a huge graduate loan instead. However I did have a small fellowship last year for about 6,000 so I still may owe the government something.. How do you file taxes at this late date? Will there be penalties?$6000 is not small.

You file taxes the same way as if you were not late. There is only one part of the process that you do differently, and that is where you write the date next to your signature (the difference is that the date that you write is later). You do everything else the same. There may be penalties, but you will not know for certain until you file.
If you are still being listed as a dependent on your parents return, or even if not..............................look @ the IRS website: they will have an answer for you :]
